Kepware Server Release 7.1

Date: 02.06.2026

Kepware's OPC Server (known as KEPServerEX until version 6.18) is the leading software solution for vendor-independent industrial connectivity. With more than 150 drivers, Kepware Server provides access to almost any device in the industry and provides normalized real-time data via OPC UA or MQTT for other applications.

Below you will find an overview of the most important new features in version 7.1.

Kepware Server 7.1 with Siemens S7 Plus, OPC UA Gateway and several drivers.

OPC UA

The CPU load was reduced when the OPC UA server was heavily utilized.

In addition, a new system tag has been added as a string array that identifies connected OPC UA clients. The associated information is displayed in the format (urn:) @ [] issued.

Redundancy for Siemens S7 Plus

A new device property for Siemens S7 Plus allows the PLC name to be ignored when loading symbols.

The Kepware server thus offers additional stability when connecting redundant control systems by enabling seamless failover between primary and secondary CPUs. If the replacement CPU takes over communication in the event of an error, this prevents different names from blocking the symbol import.

IoT Gateway

The IoT Gateway now supports Java 21. An installed 32-bit Java 21 runtime is required to operate the IoT Gateway from Kepware Server 7.1.

In addition, the variable [SERVERNAME] has been added to the message template, which contains the host name of the Windows device.

OPC UA Gateway

Version 7.1 includes a number of improvements for the OPC UA Gateway.

  • Persistent namespaces: Support for the retention of namespaces across restarts of the OPC UA Gateway
  • Support for multi-file trace logging, including setting for the minimum number of days for retention
  • Performance improvements and bug fixes

Further innovations

  • OpenSSL: Upgrade to OpenSSL version 3.5.4 for relevant components
  • Modbus TCP/IP: Support for 64-bit integers (QWord and LLong)
  • Torque Tool: Support for MID0065 Rev 998 (query of older tightening results)
  • SNMP: The maximum number of ports from which data can be collected has been increased from 99 to 250
  • Event Log: Timestamps in the event log now also show milliseconds
  • Improvements and bug fixes for several Kepware features and drivers
